| I have fished the Georgia coast for over 40 years. I have been in the charter fishing business for 30 years. I have fished over 4,000 days on the coast of Georgia. I have fished offshore and inshore waters for a variety of different fish species. I can put together a trip to suit your fishing needs from the ocean to the river, light or heavy tackle. I have selected a small group of the most experienced fishermen on the Georgia coast to help with my charters. No fishing license is needed, and all fishing tackle is included on all trips.
Inshore fishing for redfish, trout, flounder, sharks, tarpon, and stripped bass is great fun! We are usually fishing the uncrowded waters of St. Catherine's Sound, Ossabow Sound, and Ogeechee River. These trips are usually fished with a variety of live and artificial bait. The trout and redfish can be caught year-round. Some anglers like to catch the big bull redfish, up to 50 pounds, during the fall months of October, November and December. The best stripped bass fishing in the Ogeechee is from June through December. I can carry up to 4 people per trip. Two or three fisherman make for a good trip; four is a little crowed. I have three other captains to help accomodate large groups. All our boats are equipped with new outboards, electric motors and top quality tackle. Sharks and tarpon provide great, big game fishing from April though October. Last season we caught a lot of big sharks, including one 18 foot hammerhead, estimated at 800 pounds, that we released after a four hour battle. We caught 69 tarpon, which ranged from 80 to 160 pounds. We did a lot of spot and stalk tarpon fishing on light tackle, which was great sport. Some of the tarpon were caught with traditional methods, fishing with live and dead bait. The deep sea offshore fishing was the same as always - a lot of snapper, sea bass, and grouper were caught on bottom fishing trips; a lot of kings, amberjack, barracudda, dolphin, wahoo and sailfish were caught on trolling trips. My boat, The Capt. D, is a 38 foot, walk-around vessel with a 475 hp Cummins diesel. I have an assortment of Penn fishing reels on the boat for about any fish we encounter. These trips are usually 8 or 11 hours, and we can accomodate up to six people per trip.
I believe that I can provide you with the best fishing trips on the Georgia coast. If you don't fish, I can also provide boat ride adventures through coastal marshes and trips to the coastal barrier islands and beaches.
